The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.



There is some amazing art here! First, a couple of close up images of Rose Frantzen's work. I thought her older people were done with particular sensitivity.

Thank you for showing these paintings. I'm only a beginner and am struggling with a portrait of an older person at the moment, and I appreciate the delicacy and gentleness of these paintings, and how the effect of old age can be conveyed without including every wrinkle.
